JD Health Expands Rare Disease Support, Assists Over 23,000 Patients via Joint Charity Programs
In observance of Rare Disease Day on February 28, JD Health hosted the 4th Rare Disease Service Ecosystem Forum in Beijing. At the event, JD Health, in partnership with the Aili Myasthenia Gravis Care Center, Oriental Rain ALS Care Center, the Illness Challenge Foundation, Nestlé Health Science, and Beijing New Light Public Welfare Development Center, launched the “Rare Light, United Efforts” Rare Disease Care Initiative. This collaborative effort aims to provide a comprehensive service ecosystem for rare disease patients, enhancing their quality of life through collective action. Since the pioneering launch of the “Rare Disease Care Program” in 2021, JD Health has been dedicated to developing a patient-centric service system that seamlessly integrates medical supply, professional healthcare, and innovative financing solutions to address the unique needs of rare disease patients. Key initiatives and achievements include: Leading in Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP) Retail: JD Health stands as China’s largest FSMP retailer, offering 25 products designed for various congenital metabolic disorders. The “Rare Disease Nutrition Support Zone” on JD Health’s platform not only provides a diverse FSMP selection but also features live broadcasts by healthcare professionals, offering patients scientific nutrition guidance and advice. Doctor-Searching Map for Rare Diseases: Since its introduction in 2023, this resource has been continuously updated and now covers 158 rare diseases, listing 368 hospitals and 1,779 doctors across China. The resource makes it significantly easier for patients to find key medical information and support. Convenient Home Nursing Services: Launched in 2024, JD Health’s home nursing service enables rare disease patients to receive convenient professional medical care in the comfort of their homes. First Online Hub for Rare Skin Diseases: On the eve of Rare Disease Day 2025, JD Internet Hospital launched a specialized telemedicine zone dedicated to skin-related rare diseases, leveraging its extensive resources and expertise in online skin health. This platform connects patients with top dermatologists from leading hospitals, facilitates expedited access to medications, and offers comprehensive disease education. Patients can now consult with and receive diagnoses and treatment recommendations from renowned dermatology experts from the comfort of their homes. Community Support and Aid: To date, the JD Health Rare Disease Care Program has assisted 637 patients, with total aid surpassing 6.24 million RMB. Additionally, through collaborations with various medical volunteer public welfare projects, JD Health has supported over 23,000 rare disease patients in their medical journeys, offering them much-needed resources and care. Raising Awareness and Support: In observance of the 2025 International Rare Disease Day, JD Health, in collaboration with Peking University First Hospital and other partners, organized the “Hello! Shining Kids” rare disease children’s painting exhibition and rare disease photography exhibition, as well as a charity run and other activities. These initiatives aim to raise public awareness about rare diseases and bring hope to those in need. As it continues to forge new collaborations and joint initiatives with an expanding network of partners each year on Rare Disease Day, JD Health remains steadfast in its commitment to leveraging its resources and expertise to support rare disease patients and their families.
